Join LBA Ware Hack for Change
Happy hump day! Only two more days until the weekend. And all of us at LBA Ware can’t wait for the weekend. That’s because we will be participating in the 3rd annual National Day of Civic Hacking. Thanks to our friends over at TAG Middle Georgia, we have a place to let our imaginations take flight for two days of creating. Combining that with the power of collaboration, this weekend is bound to produce innovative solutions that will make our community stronger. Anyone can participate; just register here. Whether you are a professional software developer, hobbyist, or novice, if you have ideas, visions, and dreams of helping better your community then join us on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at SparkMacon. The hacking will officially begin at 9am and lasts until 3pm on Sunday, June 7th.
The National Day of Civic Hacking is an annual event put on by Code for America. Each year local events are organized to bring together individuals with a variety of skillsets and tackle issues pertinent to their community through technology. During the weekend long event, participants are encouraged to create services, applications, or websites that address social and civic problems. There’s a wide scale of ideas that come out at the end of the event. Last year’s event, which was the first International Day of Civic Hacking, taking place in 13 countries across the globe, produced civic solutions including HappyGov, VolunteereHub, AdoptMe!, @MBTA_Alerts and so much more. These local events highlight the power of engagement, collaboration, and volunteerism, and the positive impact it has on our cities and towns.
Participants attending TAG Middle Georgia’s local event on Saturday will create solutions that revolve around this year’s national theme – Principles for 21st Century Government. The seven principles are:
- Design for people’s needs,
- Make it easy for everyone to participate,
- Focus on what government can do,
- Make data easy to find and use,
- Use data to make and improve decisions,
- Choose the right technology for the job, and
- Organize for results.
If you live in Middle Georgia, come by SparkMacon this weekend and join us as we have fun, create solutions to the seven principles, improve our skillsets, and most importantly, collaborate to make our community stronger.
SparkMacon is located at 557 Cherry Street, Suite B, Macon, GA 31201.
